Richard Serra
Born in San Francisco, United States, 1939
American minimalist sculptor, Serra’s early work in the 1960s focused on the industrial materials that he had worked with: steel and lead. he is well-known for his minimalist constructions from large rolls and sheets of metal. His exterior steel sculptures go through an initial oxidation process, but after 10 years, the patina of the steel settles to one color that will remain restable over the piece's life.
